Karma: Understanding the Invisible Blueprint of Our Life

By Neeti Kaushik • 06/03/2026 • 3 Comments

There was a time when I found myself asking questions that many of you bring to me today:

Why do similar relationship patterns repeat despite sincere efforts?
Why do some people struggle endlessly while others receive opportunities effortlessly?
Why do certain emotional triggers feel older than the present moment?
Why do good intentions sometimes produce painful outcomes?

These questions are not philosophical curiosities. They arise from lived human experience.

In my journey as an educationist, spiritual practitioner, and guide, I gradually began to understand that life is not random. Beneath the visible layer of events operates a subtle law- one that governs balance, learning, growth, and evolution.

That law is Karma.

In my videos, especially the one on the Laws of Karma, I often emphasize that karma is not about fear or punishment. It is about awareness and evolution. When understood deeply, karma stops being something we fear and becomes something that empowers us.

This article is my heartfelt attempt to help you understand karma not merely as a concept, but as a living reality shaping our experiences, relationships, health, and growth.

What Karma Truly Means

The Sanskrit word karma literally means action.

However, in spiritual understanding, karma includes:

  • actions we perform
  • intentions behind those actions
  • thoughts we repeatedly entertain
  • emotions we suppress or express
  • words we speak
  • choices we make
  • reactions we display

Every thought is energy.
Every emotion carries vibration.
Every action leaves an imprint.

These imprints form our karmic field.

Karma is not only what we do, it is who we become through what we repeatedly think, feel, and act upon.

Karma is Not Punishment, It is a Mirror

One of the greatest misconceptions is that karma is a system of punishment and reward.

It is not.

Karma functions as a mirror reflecting our inner state back to us. If a pattern repeats, life is not punishing you, life is teaching you.

If an emotional trigger resurfaces, it is not cruelty, it is an invitation to heal.

Karma is a compassionate teacher, not a cruel judge.

How Karma Influences Everyday Life

Karma operates continuously, shaping experiences across multiple dimensions of life:

Relationships

Why we attract certain types of people repeatedly
Why similar emotional dynamics appear in different relationships

Health & Body

Suppressed emotions can manifest as physical symptoms
Chronic stress patterns affect immunity and vitality

Financial Patterns

Inherited beliefs about money influence prosperity flow
Fear-based decisions reinforce scarcity patterns

Opportunities & Growth

Readiness and consciousness influence opportunities received

Emotional Responses

Why certain situations trigger intense reactions beyond proportion

Life Circumstances

Family environment, cultural context, and early influences shape karmic learning fields

Nothing is accidental.

Everything participates in our evolution.

Understanding the Three Types of Karma

Ancient wisdom describes three primary types of karma that together shape our life experience:

  1. Sanchita Karma – accumulated past karma
  2. Prarabdha Karma – karma currently unfolding
  3. Agami Karma – karma you are creating now

Understanding these three is like understanding the architecture of your destiny.

1. Sanchita Karma – The Storehouse of Impressions

Sanchita means accumulated.

This is the reservoir of karmic impressions gathered across time.

It includes:

  • impressions from past lifetimes (as understood in spiritual traditions)
  • ancestral emotional imprints
  • subconscious conditioning
  • early childhood experiences
  • deep emotional memories
  • unresolved fears and attachments
  • talents and intuitive strengths

Think of Sanchita karma as a vast archive containing impressions that influence our tendencies.

Importantly, Sanchita is not only negative.

It also holds:

  • natural talents
  • intuitive gifts
  • spiritual inclinations
  • creative abilities
  • compassion and wisdom carried forward

How Sanchita Karma Appears in Life

You may notice it through:

  • unexplained fears without logical cause
  • natural abilities appearing early in life
  • recurring emotional themes
  • immediate connection or resistance toward someone
  • deep comfort or discomfort in specific environments

Have you ever met someone and felt an immediate familiarity, as if you had known them forever?

This resonance often arises from karmic memory.

2. Prarabdha Karma – The Karma Currently Unfolding

Prarabdha karma is the portion of Sanchita karma chosen for this lifetime.

It forms the framework of experiences your soul has come to learn from.

It includes:

  • the family you are born into
  • genetic predispositions and physical constitution
  • socio-cultural environment
  • significant life turning points
  • unavoidable life experiences
  • certain soul connections

Prarabdha karma is already in motion. It is like an arrow released from the bow.

We cannot stop its flight, but we can choose how we respond when it reaches us.

Examples of Prarabdha Karma

  • being born into a particular family system
  • experiencing specific health tendencies
  • encountering pivotal life events
  • meeting individuals who catalyze transformation
  • life lessons that cannot be bypassed

Prarabdha does not dictate your reaction, it provides the learning ground.

Growth depends on awareness.

3. Agami Karma – The Karma You Create Now

Agami karma is the karma we create through present choices.

It includes:

  • current actions
  • emotional responses
  • conscious decisions
  • reactions versus mindful responses
  • daily thought patterns

This is where free will operates.

Agami karma shapes future experience.

Every reaction plants a seed, every conscious choice transforms destiny.

Examples of Agami Karma

  • choosing understanding over anger
  • practicing forgiveness instead of resentment
  • acting with integrity even when unseen
  • cultivating gratitude instead of complaint
  • responding consciously rather than reacting impulsively

Agami karma is your power.

It allows transformation, it allows liberation.

How These Three Karmas Work Together

A simple analogy:

Sanchita → the seeds stored in the warehouse
Prarabdha → the crop currently growing in the field
Agami → the seeds you are planting today

You cannot change what is already growing.

But you can choose what you plant next, and that determines future harvests.

Karmic Patterns: Why Life Repeats Certain Lessons

When lessons remain unlearned, patterns repeat.

This repetition may appear as:

  • similar relationship conflicts
  • repeated financial struggles
  • recurring emotional triggers
  • cycles of self-sabotage
  • repeated feelings of rejection or abandonment

Karma repeats until awareness replaces unconsciousness.

Can Karma Be Dissolved?

Yes.

Karma is not permanent, it persists only while the lesson remains incomplete and once awareness arises, repetition dissolves.

Healing karma means integrating the lesson with awareness and compassion.

Signs You Are Releasing Karmic Patterns

  • emotional triggers begin to soften
  • forgiveness feels possible
  • repeated conflicts diminish
  • relationships shift or improve
  • self-awareness deepens
  • life begins to feel lighter

Healing karma does not remove challenges, it transforms your relationship with them.

You Are Not Bound — You Are Becoming

You are not imprisoned by karma.

You are evolving through it.

Karma does not exist to trap you.

It exists to awaken you.

A Reflection From My Journey

Through years of guiding thousands of individuals, I have witnessed a profound shift:

When people understand karma,
they stop asking, “Why is this happening to me?”
and begin asking,
“What is this teaching me?”

That question alone transforms destiny.

Final Reflection

Karma is not about fear.
It is about awareness.
It is about evolution.
It is about conscious living.

Your past may explain you…
but it does not define you.

Every conscious choice reshapes your future.

And that is the sacred power of human life.

If this resonates with you, I invite you to watch my video on the Laws of Karma, where I explain how karmic principles operate in everyday life.

Your journey is purposeful.
Your growth is sacred.
Your transformation is always possible.

  1. It’s detailed explanation of karma yet in simplified way.Ma’am, last month my Ammonite crystal which comes in pair , one part got broken. I used to keep it with me , especially during sleep. Is it now useless? Or with other part intact it can give me same results,?
Kuber stone I have. Have given intent but how to use it exactly. Please guide. Both are purchased from your site

  2. Aliva says:

Thank you so much mam for this one. As it is much needed for me.

  3. Beautiful explained and easy to understood.
Got lots of self doubts clear.

I do resonate that some times you feel this incident or word you heard or seen before.

Totally agreed when we replace “why” with “what” we get the answer.
