9 Things you should say to your kids everyday
Being a teacher is my privilege to observe the students closely. It is a task I enjoy a lot. I always try to understand every student. After investing 35+ years of my life in education, I have figured out many things about kids’ psychology.

Parents like you always meet me in my school during PTM and ask about their kid’s performance. I always appreciate the concern of parents, but there is something which I always try to find in every parent. There are a ton of phrases that parents reprise to their kids daily. But what should parents say to their children consistently to get them through life? Apart from the appreciation of the kid’s performance, how often do the parents say these nine things to the child?

What nine things are those? Let me tell you.
1. I love you.
Say it to them as often as you like. Love is a doorway to a kid’s heart. Soak their soul with love and pureness.
2. I like it when you…
Talk about positive aspects of their behavior. It helps them to push their limits. Sometimes, they do not want help. They only crave to hear something positive.
3. “You make me happy.”
This makes them feel valued. Whenever you say this to your kid, you will see a spark in their eyes.
4. “I’m proud of you.”
They need to hear they’re doing a good job, even when it’s hard. You are a role model for them act like the one.
5. “You are special.”
Let them know their uniqueness is a strength. Instead of indicating their weakness, tell them about their unique skills.
6. “I trust you.”
Building a foundation of trust raises an honest person. The most important point, communicate with them. Open up for the communication and do not react early.
7. “I believe in you.”
Teach them how valuable they are. You are a superhero for your kid. If you show them a light, they will never be afraid of the darkness.
8. “I know you can do this!”
Encourage them to never give up. When you show your trust, and belief towards your kid. Believe me, your kid will be performed exceptionally good.
9. “I am grateful for you.”
Be specific, this can make their day! If you are important to your kid then show them how grateful you are for him.
Trust me. It works like magic for every child and their parents. You would observe a change in your kid’s behavior.
How to forgive someone
We all have experienced being wronged by someone in a different phase of life. It could be the partner, friend or close one. Anger, hostility, or bitterness arise toward someone who breaks the trust. But holding the negative feeling for someone for a long time will not benefit you in any way.
Developing negative emotions for someone and thinking that it will impact that person is a foolish act. It is like drinking the poison by self and expecting another to die. No dear, if you are drinking the poison, you are the only one who dies.

Here are some tips on how to forgive someone
You are helping yourself.
You are helping yourself by releasing the negative emotions held for a long time. It is the misconception that not forgiving others will change or impact them. A person will not change by your act of resentment. Let it go.
Analyze the other side
Try to understand the point of view of another person. Sometimes situation plays a crucial role in someone’s act. It might be possible that the wrongdoing was not personal but because of uncontrolled circumstances.
Forgiveness is a gift.
Recall a time when you were harsh toward someone or treated them inadequately. At that time, the person forgives you. How did you feel at that time? It will help you that forgiveness is a gift. Give it to others, and you will cherish that moment.

Instead of suffering your soul, say these sentences to yourself because you are the most important person for yourself.
I am sorry because of the outside world. We made you suffer. I made you cry and weak.
I seek forgiveness for hurting you.
Thank you for staying rock solid and supporting me despite everything around me.
I love you for being the person whom I can trust.
It is your power, and you can be the hero of your life story.
Why am I struggling to meditate?
Meditation is now a fashion for people. The real essence of meditation is fading. You could see a person walking with the yoga mat and telling today’s yoga day, and that person breaks the whole week into different parts like cycling day, swimming day, gym day, and cardio day.
But the facts are we all are just running from one way to another, instead of experiencing the one thing with full consciousness, chasing a cheese like a rat. If someone is doing meditation, we are also copying the same.
What is meditation?

Meditation is all about paying attention to the inner-self of who you are. It is not about closing the eye and sitting in a place for the hours. It is the whole day process, which you will get to know in the below points.
Is meditation a pain?
For some, meditation is a pain because it offers emptiness during the process, and emptiness is the ultimate poison for people’s life. No one wants emptiness in their life, and because they invite trouble meant as profession, money, education, and family into their lives act to fill the empty void in their lives.
But if you consciously become empty, that’s the nectar of your life.
Now the question is, why you are struggling to meditate?
- Do not have a purpose for meditation. Find the purpose!!
Instead of copying others. Try to find your purpose for doing the meditation. It is a personal entity.
- You are not leading a life that supports the practice of meditation. Let me give you an example.
An athlete works harder and practices for a year only to perform in a one-day tournament. So, isit mean that a year of hard work is a waste?
No, because to perform well in the tournament, the athlete needs to build a life around that environment, and the same goes with meditation. If you want a successful meditation hour, you must practice your whole day around it.
“It is not about being focused an hour in a day; it is about focusing the whole day to achieve a successful hour”. No distraction!!
- We are only interested in a conclusion and don’t want to know a process.
We become so goal-oriented and conclude everything. We all want the fruit but don’t want to grow a tree. We are not experiencing the process. Meditation is a consequence, and people only want the conclusion, not the process.
Example
If you want fruits and vegetables in your garden, you must think about the soil, manure, sunlight and water, and the fact is none of them looks like fruits and vegetables, but if you take care of that, fruits and vegetables are a consequence.
The same goes for meditation. If you want to be meditative, you must cultivate your body, emotions and energies. It is the process, and you must experience it.
How to challenge elders’ decisions?
“No, the elders are right.”
“Do not question the elder’s decision.”
“You should follow what the elders say.”
You often listen to these statements from parents, right?
We always have been taught to respect every decision of elders and never challenge them.
But as we grow, we make our choices and opinions. We like to take charge of the element in which we are good. Our thoughts change, and we believe in joint leadership.
We are always in a dilemma whether to listen to our elder’s decisions or challenge their rigid and non-flexible nature. We desire that our elders hear and value our thoughts too. This dilemma can be a career choice, choosing a partner, following a passion or any ritual not okay for you and the family.

But before discussing the ways, Let’s redirect the question.
It is not about the elder or younger. It is about, “Should we be challenging someone who’s not right for a family?”
“Should we challenge someone who’s not right for you and the ecosystem?”
If the answer is “Yes”.
Then, we should do it regardless of who the person is. Yes, we would do it with utter sensitivity. It might clear your dilemma of whether to challenge a person or not.

Now the question for all of us are
“What is the correct and sensible way of challenging elders’ decisions?”
or
“Three ways to communicate difficult elders”
1. Openupfor communication.
Approach the elders, tell them how you feel about the particular thing and let them open up. Listen to their side, and then put your point on the table. Try to ask those questions which solicit yes.
2. Be assertive, not arrogant.
Control your emotions while addressing the issue because sometimes we can’t control it, and it becomes disrespectful to the elder.
3. It’s about family, not only for you.
Do not present your opinion as it is for you only. It should be about how it can be beneficial for all family members.
And some personal points for you to check whether you are right to object or not.
1. Your motive
2. Do you know the right way to do it?
3. Is it the right timing to ask for the change? Check these things before approaching the elders. Always remember superiority demands respect.
Why you must heal your womb chakra
The healer, therapist, and mender Dr. Neeti Kaushik is here to present some guidance upon the visibility of chakras in life. Chakra is something that we as Indians have inherited it from the Indian Yoga system. These focal points have the capacity to convey the strengths and weaknesses we possess at different spans of our life. Though these chakras present the past and parcel of life but amidst that they can also be healed if treated properly. The ultimate balance of our life is maintained by balancing these chakras.
A vast discussion of womb chakra is taken up here, out of the seven chakras that we as human beings are indulged with. The womb chakra or the sacral chakra is a chakra that is the most essential one for our inner self. This chakra is the divine creation point within us which forms the holiest place in the body. It is highly acknowledged because somewhere or the other, this chakra connects us with the womb of our mother which forms the basic origin of us. Therefore, it is a key to most of our healings. As our origin is defined by it, the emotions attached are also specified by the womb chakra. It is also believed that this is the place where our soul energy rests. And for it to be sacred and pure, womb chakra needs to be secured and healed in all cases.
Why the womb chakra should be healed:
- This chakra is the most important chakra amongst all, as this chakra is the resting place of our soul which inhibits the maximum energy produced in the body.
- This chakra as it represents the womb of the mother, connects with our mother the most. Her presence, emotions and actions can be felt through this chakra.
- It is a divine creation point for us.
What healings does womb chakra provides:
- It has the tendency to heal broken heartaches.
- It helps in building the broken relationships, especially when we are connected to that person through soul.
- The negative and karmic relationships are healed through this chakra. Negativity and karmic depth are healed through the presence of a strong womb chakra.
- Confusion of many partners is healed by it. The confusion whether the person is right for us or not.
- Chronic illnesses which are carried from generation to generation are also healed by this chakra.
- The sexual harassment suffered can also be healed through this chakra.
- The lust energy is also converted into the positive one by the sacral chakra.
How to heal your womb chakra:
The exercise of chanting daily with the closed eyes and in a relaxed mood needs to be done either in the morning just after waking up or while going to bed, just before the sleep. The thumb rule for this exercise is to continuously do it for 21 days. The time it takes to meditate and connect with the mother nature and heal this chakra will only take up to just 5-10 minutes daily and can provide the best benefit for life.
The exercise closely follows certain steps:
- Close your eyes
- Take three deep breaths
- Then imagine the picture of your mother, as she is the one who has given you birth, and you can directly connect yourself with the womb chakra.
- This represents surrendering as you bow down your head to her, which is a thankful act of being grateful to be born into this world through her.
- Then saying that I forgive you and you forgave me, apologising cuts down all the pain being suffered and about to be suffered by both the people.
- Finally, by raising the head, we pray to almighty for all that he has given to us, and to be forever grateful for all that would be inherited to us by him.
- And then just remember the happy memories presented by your mother in your childhood for some minutes.
After following this rule for the prescribed days, there would be a clear headedness that you would administer and the things that you used to be bothered about, would be cured eventually. A small difference would be seen within the span of 7 days, but the utmost result would come up in 21 days timing. As recommended and frequently seen, breaking off the cycle of unhealed sacral chakra is very important, because then this trauma can be passed on from one generation to the next until it is properly healed.
How to Raise your Vibrations
At times we feel extremely low and wish to come out of the low phase as early as possible. We look for shortcuts around us. It could be in the form of a small get together or a party or booze or other sexual pleasures but none of them work for a long time. We create conditions that we think help in raising our vibrations but the majority of them are temporary. In this article #nittygrittywithdrneetikaushik I will guide you through some long-lasting and better ways to raise your vibrations so that you can feel better not just for a day but make this into a practice.

2. Stay hydrated. Our body consists of more than 70% water and whenever there will be a paucity of water, vibrations will go Haywire. So whenever you feel nervous and insane and out of balance pick up a glass of water and take it sip by sip.
3. Spend some time in nature .As they say nature is the best healer try to get instant connection with the earth and align your Chakras through spending some time in nature.

Change your negative thoughts with simple solutions and change your life for betterment.
Pancchtatva’- Let us revisit ourselves Let us revisit ourselves, our inner self. We know so much about the mechanisms functional in the outside world, let us try to know the mechanics that rules us. Human body is the most sophisticated machinery along with being both fantastic and abundant. A sheer marvel. Knowing about our basics can help us fix most of our concerns. ‘Wearer knows where the shoe pinches’ it’s you who actually knows where it hurts you the maximum. At times, feeling of sadness, hopelessness and despair is normal. It works in a cycle. It comes and it goes. When such feelings arrive we generally get overwhelmed and run for quick fix solutions without pondering on the root cause. However, it is vital to understand that what we do when we experience it makes a world of difference. Rather than reaching out for help to the external world and depend on medications this time let us revisit ourselves to heal and to boost the energy and confidence back. STOP,THINK and REFLECT! Let us learn a little more about ourselves, take small steps towards our well-being and then reach out to the external world if the need be. Remember, both our mind and body have the innate ability to heal itself. Let us remind ourselves of what we are made of-We are made of the ‘Panchtatva’- ‘Five Elements’- Akash (Sky or Space), Vayu (Air), Jal (Water), Agni (Fire) and Prithvi (Earth). Let’s embrace to recharge the elements within for overcoming traces of negativity within and heal ourselves. Next time when you feel low try the following and experience the magic for yourself. Balance your 5 elements by including these magical practices in your life and reignite the force within:
1) Water: ‘Jal’ – Our body is made of 70% water. Listen to your body. It calls out for water. Heal yourself by nourishing your body with the miracles of water. Remember to it with a deep sense of gratitude.
2) Earth: ‘bhumi’- We are blessed abundantly by our mother earth. Reconnect with the soil. Walk barefoot on grass and remember to consume foods from nature’s factory and not man made factories. Fill yourself with lots of vegetables, fruits and juices.
3) Fire: ‘Agni’- the permanent source of energy. It has magical powers to heal each and every life on earth. Western countries yearn for a ‘sunny day’, we are blessed with the radiance and energy abundantly. So don’t forget to spend time in the sun.
4) Air: ‘Vayu’- break free from dark and closed rooms and the artificial air of your air conditioners. Go out in the open, get some natural light and gift your lungs a dose of fresh air. 15-20 deep breaths will have an instant calming effect.
5) Ether: ‘Aakash’ – It is the finest of all elements, it is indivisible and infinite. Ether acts as a medium through which sound (dhvani) travels. A medium through which we can communicate using sound vibrations. Start your mornings with chants, mantras, bhajans and peaceful music. It has an empowering effect. By bringing the above practices in your daily life you will be removing the imbalance within and experiencing the euphoria of balanced ‘Panchtatvas.’ Just like icing on the cake follow the following to add to your exuberance: Remember – ‘This too shall Pass’- nothing is here to stay – stay hopeful and positive. Gift yourself Happy Mornings- get organized and refrain from whining. Visit Places of worship – they will refuel hope, assurance and positivity to move ahead. Blood circulation is rejuvenating – get a body massage, spa or a head massage. Nourish and relax and good sleep through Listen to inspiring stories of people who have had struggles and evolved beautifully. So before you reach out to the outside world or to a bottle of pills – STOP, THINK and REFLECT and UNLOCK the potential within. Stay Happy –Stay Blessed. HEAL Yourself. HAPPY JOURNEY within.
Family Trips : A must for building relationships
Family vacations have long-lasting impact on kids’ happiness. Vacations are not just happy memories in making. They are also opportunities to teach your children about the world they live in, making them acquainted with different cultures and space to explore natural beauty.
Dr. Neeti Kaushik from nittygrittywithdrneetikaushik advised parents to have frequent outing with kids and spend quality time with them to strengthen the bond between the family members.. “Whenever I relive my childhood days, I still remember those short trips to nearby hill stations along with parents and cousins. Memories of trekking, staying in tents, going to temple with my grandmother, dancing and singing with the cousins bring a smile on my face.
Introducing new ways to bring children and parents together in which family bond plays an important role. Family days, grandparent’s day, painting with mommy, Family get togethers with extended family, kind of events should be organized to foster strong relationships and bond building and teaching life skills

Here are few reasons for which we firmly believe family vacations are important:-
1. Everyone needs a break- It is one of the only ways we can escape and get away and forget about work and hectic schedule. Vacation helps us relax and forget about stress. You come back stronger and refreshed.
2. Exploration- When we travel with kids, they are exposed to new ways of life, new people and culture, which is always a good thing.
3. Reconnect- Family ties can be strengthened and relationships can be made stronger on family vacations. By doing different activities that are out of norm, going outside our comfort zone, we grow stronger naturally and as an individual and also as a family.
Vacations fuse fun and learning both. As parents, we work hard for our families. We deserve taking time away from jobs. We deserve to have fun with our family.
HOBBY AS A SAVIOUR

An empty mind is a Devil’s workshop.
Keeping oneself busy is extremely important in this time and era. As quoted above, an empty mind really is a Devil’s workshop and it wanders around due to which we end up being more stressed, troubled and depressed than we were earlier. What can we do to escape or entirely skip this boredom?
Hobby is something one does for self-peace and to stay happy. People indulge in hobbies as they allow them to destress and promote better health by helping them remain mentally productive. Due to all these amazing benefits of having a hobby, it won’t be wrong to consider it as a stress buster. Anyone can have hobbies, some people have one while others may have many. Hobbies are a great way to pass spare time and can be done by all- whether it is a child or adult, junior or a senior.
I think of myself as an artist as my favorite way to pass time is through drawing, painting, and sketching. All the paintings enclosed in this blog are drawn and painted by me. I discovered this hobby quite long ago- when I was just four years of age. I went to classes just to see if I liked art and found myself taking out more and more time for this. Be it sketching, painting (oil, acrylic, poster, water) or shading, I love and know how to do them all. Whenever I’m bored and have nothing else to do, I take out my sketchbook and start drawing. I love to draw and paint as I am able to express my feelings through them and therefore, it’s my go-to hobby and I feel extremely relaxed whenever I’m doing the same.
Whenever I draw something, I tend to keep a constant check on what I’m drawing. The errors I find encourage me to keep on trying and at last, when the full picture is ready, it’s the best feeling ever! Why I’m including this point is that whatever is your hobby, you need to see the good in the same. ‘Keep on trying and you’ll find perfection’ is what I have learnt from this hobby of mine.
