A personal reflection by Dr. Neeti Kaushik
The Whisper That Stops You in Your Tracks
We often run so fast that we forget why we even started the race. We’re told to dream big, chase more, hustle harder. And we do. Because that’s what success looks like—right?
But one ordinary morning, as I sat on my swing, holding a warm cup of herbal tea, breathing in the aroma of my homemade incense… I had a moment.
A whisper deep within said:
“What if this is it? What if you’re already living the life you once cried for?”
It wasn’t a question. It was a revelation.
“Sometimes the most extraordinary things are disguised as the ordinary.” – Dr. Neeti Kaushik
And in that stillness, a new journey began—not towards the next milestone, but toward mindful awareness of this very moment.
Chapter 1: When Did the Little Things Become Less Important?
There was a time I equated success with packed schedules, back-to-back meetings, and the weight of responsibility. As a Principal, I lived by the bell. Morning assemblies, teacher substitutions, school inspections, parent queries… and somewhere in all that, I forgot how silence sounded.
But even in those chaotic moments, I remember dreaming:
“One day, I will have my own space, where mornings begin with birdsong, not buzzers.”
Fast-forward to today. I wake up in my farmhouse—Offgrid Rajasthan—surrounded by fields, greenery, and stillness. I light my dhuni, journal by the rising sun, sip my tea slowly, and walk barefoot on the grass.
And I think to myself:
This is what I once begged the Universe for.
And yet, I almost missed it, searching for something more.
“It is not joy that makes us grateful. It is gratitude that makes us joyful.” – David Steindl-Rast
Chapter 2: Measuring Success With a New Ruler
Once upon a time, success meant numbers—salary, followers, awards, designations. But over the years, I’ve learned to ask a better question:
“Does this make my soul smile?”
And now, success is when someone lights up after attending my Journaling workshop. It’s when my crystals from Dr Neeti Kaushik shop heal someone. It’s when a participant from my Manifestation workshop says, “I finally manifested peace.”
This is my dream life. Not perfect. Not without struggle. But real, raw, and fulfilled.
Let me ask you something too:
- What if success was the way your dog jumps on you when you come home?
- What if it was your child saying, “Mumma, you’re the best” without you prompting it?
- What if it was receiving a message from someone saying your video changed their life?
“Real success is not in applause, it’s in alignment. Are you aligned with your truth?” – Dr. Neeti Kaushik
Chapter 3: The Luxury of Freedom—And Its Forgotten Beauty
There was a time when I was afraid to let go of my comfort zone. I had a secure position, a respected title, a rhythm. But deep within, my soul longed for more—for purpose, not protocol. I dreamed of speaking to hearts, of building something that was mine.
Launching Nitty Gritty with Dr. Neeti Kaushik was scary. I wasn’t sure how the world would receive me. But I knew one thing: I had the freedom to try.
And that freedom—to write, to speak, to create, to live life on my terms—is a privilege I never take for granted. My past self longed for this. My present self lives it.
“Freedom is not the absence of commitments, but the ability to choose—and commit myself to—what is best for me.” – Paulo Coelho
Reflective Question:
Where in your life today do you feel free? How are you using that freedom to align with your purpose?
Chapter 4: Living in Alignment With Past Desires
Here’s a small journaling exercise I do often, and I encourage you to try it too:
Ask yourself:
- What was I praying for 5 years ago?
- What did I think my dream life would look like?
- Which parts of that are already here?
Maybe you’re a parent now. You’re finally sleeping peacefully. Maybe you’ve moved into your own home. Maybe you have a kitchen full of fresh food. Or maybe you finally have a friend who gets you.
“The dream is not always in the grand arrival. It’s in the daily magic we overlook.” – Unknown
Chapter 5: The Real Goal Is to See the Beauty, Not Just Chase It
You see, most people don’t need a better life.
They need better awareness of the life they already have.
We scroll social media and feel behind. We compare, compete, crave. But we forget—someone else is praying for exactly the life we have. The healthy parents. The peaceful relationship. The job stability. The inner work we’ve done.
And awareness shifts everything.
Instead of chasing more, we start savoring now.
Instead of waiting for happiness, we realize:
“It’s already here. It’s always been here.”
Journal Prompts & Self-Reflective Questions
Here are some soul-stirring questions to sit with today:
- What part of your daily routine is something you once wished for?
- Who in your life today is someone your past self would be grateful for?
- In what way are you already embodying your dream version?
- Are you chasing more out of purpose—or just out of habit?
- If everything stayed the same tomorrow, could you still find joy in it?
“The only real prison is the prison of our perception.” – Anthony de Mello
Final Reflection: You Are the Dream
Here’s the truth: We become so focused on becoming someone else that we forget how sacred it is to be who we are.
Every scar, every story, every step you took brought you here.
And here? It’s beautiful. It’s enough.
So instead of asking, “What’s next?”—take a pause and ask:
“What’s now?”
Because this moment, this breath, this peace…
might just be the answer to every prayer your past self once whispered into the night.
One Last Whisper From Me to You
If you’re reading this right now, you’ve already manifested the version of you who chooses healing, awareness, and growth.
And that?
That’s the dream life.
Don’t let it pass by unnoticed.
Embrace it. Celebrate it. Live it.
With infinite love,
Dr. Neeti Kaushik
